Challenging most recent Television systems, it can be difficult determing the best Television for you personally. Two types of television sets that individuals will most likely examine would be the Television and Brought Television. We have found a brief guide on the distinction between an Liquid crystal and Brought tv that will help you help make your tv selection.

	From a technical perspective, LCD TVs and Brought Tv sets tend to be LCD TVs. The actual display screen for both types of Tv sets is a live view screen. The actual Liquid crystal tv is a flat-panel tv. Using a LCD display, there's 2 levels regarding polarized goblet that are gathered. The actual fluid deposits are usually found in one of the levels. The actual fluid deposits pass or perhaps prevent the lighting to display the television graphic. Urates don't generate their particular light. The lighting comes from neon table lamps which are located at the rear of the particular display screen. Set up in the grid are usually an incredible number of wooden shutters which open and shut release a light and catch light that isn't necessary to generate pictures. Every shutter will be combined with any tinted filtration which usually creates a sub-pixel. The actual sub-pixels are so very small that whenever they will combine they will make a individual pixel. This shows as a individual speck regarding colour on the watch's screen. Along with the help of neon table lamps, the television pictures that people see are manufactured. Liquid crystal tv can be very skinny that will create good quality pictures. These Tv sets use up less room plus they can even be strung.

	Brought TV‘s also have a flat-screen and make use of Live View Screen technology. On the other hand source of light is unique. Brought Television utilizes Gentle Giving out Diodes Brought. There are 2 types of Brought back-lighting — Side lights and Full-Array lights. The Extra Edge lights relies on a number of diodes are usually which are set up over the outside ends of the display screen. The lighting will be dispersed across the screen. Full-Array lights requires a number of series regarding diodes at the rear of the entire surface of the display screen enabling with additional control above dimming and brightness because the diodes may be fired up and away from.

	If you're not knowledgeable about the current Television systems, it can be difficult knowing the selection in between Liquid crystal and Brought television sets. Although Brought TV‘s and Liquid crystal TV‘s equally use Live View Screen technology, the main element variation would be that the Brought Television utilizes Gentle Giving out Diodes even though the regular Television utilizes neon table lamps. When it comes to LCD TVs, Edge-lit tv sets are typically lighter and leaner when compared to a Complete Variety as the lights supply takes up less room. Full-array tv sets are usually fuller and heavier, but one portion of the Brought solar panel may be dimmed whilst some other sections remain bright which usually improves blacks and comparison in the tv graphic. Side lights tv sets would be the lightest and slimmest Tv sets on the market.

	Brought Tv sets can be more expensive compared to Liquid crystal television sets. Every type regarding tv possesses its own pros and cons. The choice is determined by your requirements tv desire.

Many people believe the McDonald bros of Ca started out the fast-food craze in the usa, but in reality, it had been the White-colored Fortress hamburger archipelago that actually began take out background in the us. L. Walter Anderson opened the initial White-colored Fort in 1916 in Wichita, โต๊ะจีน Kansas, and people liked the cheap burgers, fries, and colas he offered. Nevertheless, rapidly-foods genuinely didn’t turn into widespread in the us until finally following World War 2, when Americans first began to fall in love with their vehicles, along free time and much more cash to invest on eating dinner out.

The McDonald Friends

The actual characters of fastfood historical past in the united states are Rich and Maurice McDonald, the two brothers who came up with 1st McDonald’s bistro in 1948 in San Bernardino, Los angeles. They wished their cafe to be more effective and value-powerful, in order that they designed a simple food selection in a tiny constructing without any furniture, so people got their food and consumed in their autos. By 1953, the siblings had decided to business their thought, and two franchise companies exposed in Downey, Ca and Phoenix, az, Az.

Copycats

Because the McDonald’s grew to become easier, other people did start to pay attention and backup their illustration to make their particular take out background in the us. Keith Cramer began surgery in Fl that might change into Jack In The Box, and Jimmy Kroc, a blender salesperson, was pleased with McDonald’s which he asked the brothers if he could sell their franchise companies. He exposed their own McDonald’s in Des Plaines, Il in 1954, and ultimately he ordered out the brothers and became online resources this provider. Kroc was the allure guiding the foodstuff chain’s great progress throughout The united states within the overdue 1950s and early 1960s. Wendy’s is made by Gaga Thomas in Columbus, Kansas, where the 1st bistro exposed in 1962.

A lot more Novices

As quickly foodstuff trapped on, and more people made a decision they liked cusine inside their autos far more fastfood shops jumped up round the country. Connector-in-the-Package started out in North Park, California in 1951, by 1960 it got disseminate of California into other places. Troy Smith popped the 1st SONIC Push-In in 1954 in Shawnee, Ok, Dunkin’ Inflatible donuts first popped in Quincy, Boston in 1950, and the very first Taco Bell opened in 1962 in Downey, Ca. These surgical procedures dependent their enterprise a minimum of often on the McDonald’s function after which revised effectiveness using niche food items.

The modern day History

Nowadays, fast food chains have propagate all across the globe, and still have propagate U . s . way of life correct together with them. There are many very popular organizations, like Carl’s Jr .., Arby’s, Domino’s and Whole milk California king, showing that junk food is certainly not constantly about hamburgers. In fact, pizza, Chinese language foodstuff, and virtually any form of meals you can possibly imagine are readily available for acquire-out at rapidly-foodstuff stores around the world. Fast food history in the us is really the foundation take out to be sure it nowadays, knowning that background has created millionaires from most of the individuals who very first reported the short foods concept.

The owner of every automobile, be it someone who owns a high end vehicle or a proud owner of a lower end cost vehicle is always faced with the common problem of “not having sufficient storage space in their vehicle.”

If you are someone who loves to go on road trips and want to take along suit cases, sports and camping gear you mostly do not have space to put everything inside the vehicle. Well the answer is simple, add a roof rack.

 Drive With Roof Racks

Roof racks make travelling a lot easier by leaving extra space inside the vehicle.The extra leg and seat space which is made possible by placing the luggage on the roof of the vehicle is just not only a bonus but it also means you can carry bulkier items such as your bicycle, camping equipment and surfboard with ease.

The process of installing a roof rack is a simple one. In one situation it involves fixing cross bars to the existing factory installed roof rails. If you have the roof rails you will need a clamping device to hold the cross bars to the side rails. There are numerous choices of models in the market, the decision of which one to buy could be price or the supplier’s design as all leading manufacturers offer quality workmanship.

Taking into account the growing market and increasing demand for stylish racks with durability manufacturers combine hi-tech engineering with high strength plastics with outdoor durability to-gether with suitable good load holding strength aluminium alloy cross bars, many of aero shape.

Should your vehicle not be fitted with factory installed roof rails the alternatives are roof mounts which consists of a mount resting on the edge of the roof to which are connected a strap holding the mount to the roof and the mount,in turn,connected to the cross bars.

Vehicle design requires that the strap should conform to the particular vehicle to be fitted and roof rack manufacturers publish a catalogue listing the particular strap required for the specific vehicle model. For most roof rack designs a change of vehicle may only need a different strap if the mount remains suitable for the replacement vehicle.

If you have a heavy load to be carried on the roof rack there may be a need for a stronger constructed rack to-gether with options such as steel or aluminium mesh baskets and,as a basket, the depth allows the storage of articles to be carried more securely. Accessories are available in the form of covers that fit over the items carried to prevent rain or dirt from affecting storage.

Other than a basket plastic boxes are available with locks in several capacities and being enclosed require no further covering against the elements.

With the appropriate roof rack the passenger space in your vehicle is much more manageable than without it and makes the trip to and from your destination less stressful.

Cervelo have been making top end road cycles since the mid 1990s. With the founders of Cervelo being involved in road TT bike frame designs for pro teams for a number of years previous to the formation of Cervelo Bicycles. The Cervelo brand is very highly regarded within the cycling world having scored a number of successes on the pro circuit in a short space of time. Top of the Cervelo cycle range is the Cervelo Soloist, which is ridden frequently by the Cervelo Test Team and previously by Team CSC.

The Cervelo Soloist comes in three modes the Cervelo S1, which is constructed, from high-grade lightweight aluminum. And the Cervelo S2 and Cervelo S3 models, constructed from unidirectional high modulus carbon composite. All the bikes in the Soloist range have been designed for speed and many thousands of hours was spent in development for the distinct Cervelo Soloist aero frames. Voted by many the most appealing bike in the 2009 Tour De France, The S series continues to go from strength to strength helped by a number of high profile race wins.

 Cervelo Soloist Road Bike

The Soloist Frame Geometry is highly specialized and designed so that there is no need for custom frame building as done by many of Cervelo’s contemporary’s. In fact Cervelo claim that Six Cervelo Soloist frame sizes would cover 12 Frame sizes from other road bike maker, The Soloist frame is highly versatile with a unique 2-position design for Time Trials and Road Stages. There is always a debate as to what is the best road bike, with a number of the high-end road cycle makers competing for the accolade. To a certain extent there is not a lot to choose between top road bike models and makers but as an enthusiast my current favorite is the Cervelo S3.

Resume Headlines Matter – Now More Than Ever

Seth Godin, author of business books and prolific blogger, recently quipped: “Headlines matter now more than they ever did. Headlines provoke and introduce. They cajole and they position. No headline, no communication. If you want to communicate (your resume, your trustworthiness, your graciousness) you need to be sure your headline is compelling, accurate and a viable foundation to the message you’re ultimately trying to send.”

He is so right. A resume headline, typically the position title, serves as an introduction to you, communicates your objective in far less text than a traditional objective statement, and it assures the recruiter of which position you are applying to (the company may have several openings, and things do get messed up now and again). In fact, recruiters have indicated that they appreciate when an applicant names the position to which he or she is applying.

Headlines in general provoke a reaction, even a subconscious one. They persuade subliminally, and they position the candidate. Perhaps you’ve never considered a headline for your resume? Not sure what I’m talking about? It’s very simple. Rather than using an objective statement – Looking for a position as I.T. Manager – just use a headline at the top of your resume – I.T. Manager. It works as an article headline does, priming the reader for what’s to come. And it is easily scannable for the reader; less words with more effect! (See the samples at the bottom of this article.)

A headline communicates – this is the bottom line. Documents without headlines have less impact and are less likely to get noticed. Given that perhaps 95% of job applicants do not use a headline, this is an easy way to attract the recruiter’s instant attention.

Sub-headlines work

Direct mail, i.e. marketing, copywriters know this. Every ad has a headline, and so, say the copywriters, should every paragraph. Resumes, as self-marketing documents (not biographies, not histories), benefit from marketing strategies. You want your resume to be scannable, that is, easy for the eye to peruse over several seconds while absorbing a few key facts. Because on the recruiter’s first run-through of applicants’ resumes, maybe 15 seconds is all your resume is going to get.

Chunk Your Information

Research shows that too much information is overwhelming. Information that is broken down into affiliated chunks is more easily assimilated. You likely already have your resume information chunked, but why not take it a step further? Rather than relying on the standard “Professional Experience,” why not use “Management Experience,” or “Leadership in Action”? How about changing the Hobbies section (which is mostly useless information) to something related to the job, for example Athlete-Author-Actor sections for an English/Phys Ed teacher? Get creative with your headings and get your reader involved in your resume.

Why It’s Important Now More than Ever

Strategies are employed by management all the time – this means planning, positioning, and evaluating the how and why of something. Using a headline is a simple strategy to use in your resume to stand out from the many other applicants. In these challenging times, where applicants to most positions will increase as jobs are lost, standing out is critical.

Take it Up a Notch

Now that you had given yourself a headline, take it up one notch: give yourself a tagline too. A tagline is defined as: A slogan or phrase that visually conveys the most important product attribute or benefit that the advertiser wishes to convey. Generally, a theme to a campaign (taken from About.com.: Marketing). Developing a tagline for yourself is a wonderful way to establish yourself as an expert, and as an excellent candidate. In essence, your tagline should highlight aspects of your experience, skills or education that are directly related to the sorts of jobs to which you aspire, and most of all, it should be authentic to you. Here are some samples:

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT

- Project Management

- Customer Service Excellence

- People Management

PHARMACIST RECRUITING SPECIALIST

- with recruiting, retail, speaking, and mentoring experience -

MECHANICAL AND AEROSPACE ENGINEER

- International Experience

- Project Management

Mission Statements and Vision Statements are created to clearly convey the direction of the company. Companies without a meaningful Mission / Vision statement tend to be rudderless.

Mission and Vision Statements are all over the map. Some companies only have one or the other, while other companies will use a Mission Statement as a Vision Statement and vice versa. Used properly, Mission Statements and Vision Statements are powerful tools. They provide employees with a company direction. They provide the answer to which activities to pursue and which not to pursue. If an activity does not help your company move toward its vision, then don’t do it.

Mission Statements

The prime audience for a mission statement is the employees of the company. A Mission Statement should be concise. It should reflect the company’s business strategy and focus on the customer. It should answer three questions:

- What do we do?

- How do we do it?

- For whom do we do it?

What do we do? This question should not be answered in terms of what you are selling to your customer. It is about how your product or service solves their psychological need. Your customer expressed ‘frustration’ over some problem and by purchasing your product or service, their ‘frustration’ is now gone.

How we do it? This answer should deal with the product or service that you are selling, how you will sell it and how it is delivered to the customer. It should fit with the psychological need expressed above.

For whom do we do it? This answer should identify who we will be marketing to.

Geico example – It is important that when severe weather threatens, you know where to turn for information to ensure that you, your loved ones and your vehicle are safe. Auto damage adjusters from around the country will help handle the claims this storm season. These adjusters will remain in affected areas as long as necessary to take care of you and every GEICO customer.

- What do we do? When weather threatens, we want to make you feel safe

- How we do it? Use adjusters from around the country

- For whom we do it? Our customers

Vision Statements

A vision is a statement about what your company will look like in the future – say 10 years from now. A vision should stretch the organization’s capabilities and image of itself. It gives shape and direction to the organization’s future. It should be fairly short and easy to remember. Let’s look at some examples…

Microsoft example – Bill Gates’ initial vision was to have a computer on every desk. Employees at Microsoft worked to make the computer useful [applications that people wanted] and they worked to make it easy to use. Today, their vision is to help people and businesses throughout the world realize their full potential. The initial vision had more meaning.

Sony example – Sony is a leading manufacturer of audio, video, communications, and information technology products for the consumer and professional markets. Its motion picture, television, computer entertainment, music and online businesses make Sony one of the most comprehensive entertainment companies in the world. Their vision could be clearer, something like ‘Sony will be the most comprehensive entertainment company in the world’ or ‘the world will look to Sony for comprehensive entertainment’.

Boeing example – Boeing has a long tradition of aerospace leadership and innovation. We continue to expand our product line and services to meet emerging customer needs. This vision is rather vague – they should be proposing what they believe those emerging customer needs will be.

Aerovironment example – AV develops and produces Unmanned Aircraft Systems and Efficient Electric Energy Technologies that enable our customers to rewrite the rules – of engagement, productivity, efficiency and safety – to their advantage. Aerovironment is a small company that went public recently. Their vision statement is quite clear.

While doing this research, I found it much easier to find a vision statement from a smaller company. The bigger companies didn’t always post their vision. Smaller companies appear to be more in tune to their vision than bigger companies. However, I would suggest that it is a mistake for a bigger company not to have a vision statement. It provides direction. What will the company be selling in the future? What does our customer base want? It keeps focus on developing the product or service of the future. It promotes innovation. It keeps you ahead of your competition.

There is an old saying – If you don’t know where you are going then it doesn’t matter how you get there. But if you know your final destination [your vision] then you and your employees will choose the paths that will help you get there.

A multinational firm’s organizational structure that reflects the “global” philosophy that the world is basically one homogeneous market is called a “global structure.” For example, by this philosophy, many large electronics and consulting firms, while allowing for minor local adjustments to packaging and language, basically project the same kinds of products and services around the world. However, there are several differences in terminology and philosophy in this field.

First, a “global” philosophy is characterized by seeing the world as one more-or-less monolithic market with similar tastes and preferences. In contemporary parlance this is opposite to a “multidomestic” (or multinational or multilocal) philosophy by which one sees the world as made up of many more-orless unique markets, each with its distinct tastes and preferences. A position between these two extremes is called regionalism, whereby one sees the world as being made up of a small number of quite homogenous regions. These constructs can be applied to industries, firms, and organizational structures, and it is informative to understand how global thinking at industry and strategic levels apply.

For example, George Yip sees globalization as a function of the degrees to which the global marketplace is fragmented, local customer needs are distinct, local sourcing imperatives exist, costs are heterogeneous, and trade barriers are significant to cross-border commerce. Thus Randall Schuler, Peter Dowling, and Helen De Cieri and other scholars refer to some industries-like commercial aircraft, copiers, generic drugs, most electronics and computer hardware-as global industries; while retail, the food industry, and most services are considered substantially multidomestic.

Multinationals-and other large firms, for that matter-generally are divided into several parts, units, or divisions that reflect some aspect of their strategy. This link between structure and strategy was made famous in the classic book Strategy and Structure by Alfred DuPont Chandler. For example, a firm with five product categories may have been structured into five divisions, each division mandated to manage one of the product categories. Chris Bartlett and Sumantra Ghoshal build on this logic as they focus on organizational responses to global and local forces; and they describe four organizational types (or mentalities) for the global organization that represent organizational and strategic responses to various industry contingencies. For example, they describe the global firm that views the world as its market, assumes that national tastes are more similar than different, and that believes in standardized products; and these strategic approaches require structural integrative mechanisms that are to coordinate worldwide activities, production, marketing, research and development (R&D), and planning.

Thus, it is these structural processes that are implied by the term global structure. Mechanisms All large organizations need some structures that coordinate and integrate to some degree. However, the global strategy relies on these structures for implementation There are three major aspects to this kind of structure. The first is the locus of strategic responsibility. Second, the way the structure separates reporting relationships and dictates how the firm is divided. This aspect of structure may be called structuring. The final aspect is the kinds of coordination and integration systems-these may be called processes.

Locus of strategic responsibility: A crucial aspect of organization structure is the extent to which decision- making autonomy is delegated from corporate headquarters to parts of the business. In the global firm there is a strategic imperative to centralize important strategic decisions. For example, decisions on product range, research and development, branding, and human resource management tend to be made at corporate rather than subsidiary level. Even customer service, which is the function most likely to be located closer to the customer, may have its major policies and standards set at corporate level. Structuring: A characteristic of the global structure is that it is relatively blind to geographic distance and instead focuses on one or more other strategic dimensions-like products or markets-that it considers more important (than geography) to its success at implementing a global strategy.

Thus a global structure commonly has a major top-level division into product categories (generally called a global product structure), markets (global market structure), or some matrix (global matrix structure). As an example of a global product structure, Procter & Gamble (P&G) has three global product divisions, namely Global Beauty, Global Household Care, and Global Health & Well-being. However, the distinction between product and market structures is likely to be blurred-for example, Boeing’s business units seem like different product divisions (commercial airplanes, integrated defense systems, and Boeing capital corporation), but in effect all three have the aim of marketing various aircraft and aerospace products and services to different market groups-in this case commercial airlines, governments, and financial intermediaries.

The global matrix structure attempts to organize activities by two (or more) managerial dimensions-like product, geography, and/or market. For example H. J. Heinz has simultaneously geographic divisions in North America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand, and emerging markets (selected countries in Asia and eastern Europe); several product categories, namely ketchup/condiments/sauces, meals and snacks (including frozen foods), soups/beans and pasta, and infant feeding; and separate operations for retail and food service channels. In a global structure these various departmental and business divisions may have necessary aspects of local focus, but essentially they work together for implementing the firm’s global strategy.

Processes: Finally, and very importantly, structure implies processes such as coordination, integration, and information systems. These processes tend to be pronounced in the global structure, and generally very common in contemporary organizations. Kwangsoo Kim and Jong-Hun Park identify four generic integrating mechanisms: (1) people-based integrating mechanisms that use people to coordinate business operations across borders, involving the transfer of managers, meetings, teams, committees, and integrators; (2) information-based integrating mechanisms use information systems such as databases, electronic mail, Internet, intranet, and electronic data interchanges to integrate business operations across borders; (3) formalization-based integrating mechanisms rely on the use of standardized or common work procedures, rules, policies, and manuals across units; and (4) centralization-based integrating mechanisms retain decision-making authority at the corporate headquarters-a similar concept to that in the “locus of strategic responsibility” section above.

The more global the firm, the more it uses these processes. Intel, for example, uses relatively few formal structural mechanisms, but several cross functional teams-including information technology (IT), knowledge management, human resources, finance, legal, change control, data warehousing, common directory information management, and cost reduction teams-as integrating processes that allow them rapid adaptation to changing conditions. Integrating mechanisms can also have negative effects-perhaps tying the hands of local managers, imposing compliance costs (both time and other resources), and creating unintended bureaucratic barriers to efficient decision making. A study by David Brock and Ilene Siscovick, for example, found effects of integrative factors at subsidiary level were often negative.

Welding Certification tests are numbered by position and joint type. For instance a 1 G indicates a flat position groove weld. The 1 means flat position, and the G indicates a groove weld.

I saw a video the other day that advertised a mobile welding lab that was used to train and certify welders.

A few students as well as the instructor were interviewed and described the 8 weeks of welding training that led up to welding certification tests in the 1G position.

What?

That’s right, 8 weeks of welding training per process to be able to certify in a 1 G weld test.

I don’t get it. After 8 weeks of training in a welding process, why can’t the welder pass some other positions like 3G and 4G welding tests?

Did you know that a 3G plate test combined with a 4G plate test certifies a welder in ALL positions?

That’s all positions. Like 1G , 2G, 3G, and 4G. as well as every position of fillet welds imaginable too.

A 1G welding test certifies a welder to weld in how many positions? One ! that’s it …just one.

You get a lot more bang for your buck by training welders to certify in both the 3G and 4G positions.

Another issue is that 1G welding tests typically don’t have very good pass rates.

You know why?

Gravity. That’s right., gravity is working against you and not for you. Gravity lets the slag flow ahead of the arc on a 1G welding test and if you are not careful, it can cause cold lap and slag inclusions.

Gravity works For you and not against you on a 3G vertical plate welding test.

Gravity keeps the flux behind the arc. The arc is then allowed to do its thing and penetrate into the base metal. As long as you maintain enough amperage and a tight arc, things will go well on a 3G vertical plate test.

The AWS (American Welding Society) classifies the 1G position welding test as the easiest.

I disagree with that when it comes to beveled groove welds.

I believe 2G horizontal and 3G vertical welding certification tests have better pass rates when it comes to a bend test or x ray testing.

Joseph- and the Hebrews to Egypt

Morality lessons can be found in every episode of biblical Joseph’s life: sold into slavery by brothers, angry and jealous of his braggadocio and their father’s favoritism; overcomes false charges and prison by his ability to interpret dreams; rises to great personal power and authority by his administrative ability; saves Egypt, all neighboring peoples and his own family from starvation during a prolonged famine. In the process he makes Egypt extremely wealthy (during the seven lean years, when only Egypt had store-house-cities full of grain from seven prior bountiful years). The biblical story of Joseph is easily justifiable as fiction, however, there is a statue on an island in the Nile of a white-faced, non-Egyptian vizier, who saved Egypt from a devastating famine, and wall-murals depict caravans of starving desert tribesmen (from named Hebrew cities) being sold grain, both fitting perfectly with the Bible. After Joseph becomes Egypt’s Vizier, with many years of famine remaining, per the Bible, he brings his father, his brothers and their entire families to Egypt. That sets the stage, centuries later, for the well-known Passover stories, with extra-biblical corroboration: Hebrew slavery; Moses (at birth) being saved from the drowning fate of male Hebrew babies; his flight from Egypt; and finally, the Exodus story, including mass deaths of Egyptians from the plagues. (Note: Other related Ezine articles: “Miracles 3500 Years Ago, Biblical Exodus – The Only Logical Explanation For 21st Century Artifacts!”; “Mystery Solved – Boy-King Tut’s Magnificent Tomb – Exodus Miracles Affirmed!”; “Hebrews in Egypt – Slaves and Plagues – Extra-Biblical Proof!”)

Beginning with Joseph being brought to Egypt and sold as a slave, Egyptian records correlate exactly with the Biblical episodes of Joseph’s story:

Attempted seduction of a young man by a high official’s wife, his rejection of her, her false charges and his subsequent imprisonment, then release – told in an Egyptian papyrus, dated 1225 BC. (Identical to the story of Joseph and Potiphar’s wife).
Joseph, Vizier/Savior of Egypt. Archaeological digs along the Nile, provide an obvious and remarkable corroboration of the biblical story of Joseph. An unusual life-sized statue was found at Avaris, honoring the famed Vizier who – by Egyptian records – saved the Egyptian people from a terrible famine. The statue is of a white-faced, clean-shaven Asiatic man with unusually-shaped and red hair, (and since legend is frequently based on fact) adjacent Egyptian wall murals depict Asian caravans of the time with similarly-featured non-Egyptian men wearing “coats of many colors”!
Described in Papyrus #1116A in the Leningrad Museum is a mural of starving desert tribesmen seeking food from Egypt during a period of drought, “Pharaoh giving wheat to a tribe from Ashkelon, Hazor and Megiddo” (undoubtedly Hebrews from well-known cities in Israel);
Roman historian, Josephus, in his book, “Josephus Against Apion”, quotes two Egyptian priest-scholars, Manetho and Cheremon, who, in their own histories of Egypt, specifically name Joseph and Moses as leaders of the Hebrews, that they “rejected Egypt’s customs and gods .. practiced animal sacrifices (witnessed on the first Passover)” .. These historians confirm that the Jews migrated to “southern Syria” (the Egyptian name for Palestine) and that the exodus occurred during the reign of Amenophis .. during the close of the 18th dynasty, 1500 to 1400 BC.

Reading between the lines and extrapolating the text in both the Old Testament and Egyptian artifacts, there is much that can be derived.

Pharaoh, whether or not normally religious, truly feared the interpretations of his dreams – seven fat sheaves and cows, followed by seven shriveled sheaves and lean cows. Probably the dreams were of a nightmarish quality – Pharaoh being unable to get relief from them, for he then instituted a remarkable fourteen year national program for survival of his country and people. The gigantic storage facility at Sakkara, with similar granary storehouse all over Egypt, indicates the scale and scope of the undertaking, storing excesses from the bountiful harvest during the first seven years.
Because of the importance of the program, the person selected by Pharaoh as Vizier had to be truly second to Pharaoh in administrative authority (as both the Bible, re Joseph, and Egyptian artifacts, re Imhotep, attest) . An aspect of human nature – that during many years of bounty (seven – a long time), unless one is truly fearful of a deity and the prediction of seven years of famine, there is a natural tendency to “slack off”. Joseph, son of Patriarch Jacob, would have complete faith in God’s prediction, however, Egyptian power resided in Pharaoh, thus he primarily, had to believe completely and fearfully in the forthcoming years of famine – to put his country through such an ordeal of self-denial and discipline during years of plenty. Such a national program had to have been the most important in the country, and for fourteen years duration: during the years of plenty, hoarding all excess grain, building storage cities, then transporting and maintaining the surplus grain; then during the years of famine, selling off the grain and safeguarding Egypt’s accumulating wealth. An enormous administrative task, clearly, the designation of Joseph/Imhotep as “Vizier, second in power to Pharaoh in all of Egypt”, has to be recognized as extremely meaningful.
Digging Deeper – Joseph and Imhotep

The “deeper digging” is by Dr. Lennart Moeller in his book, “The Exodus Case”. Dr. Moeller, a medical doctor at Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, is also an archaeologist, explorer, marine biologist, scuba diver, and a scholar of both Egyptian history and the Bible. It was Dr. Mueller who directed the diving expedition which discovered coral-covered clumps of chariot wreckage from Egypt’s 18th dynasty in the Gulf of Aqaba (see listed Ezine articles).

Moeller refers to an inscription on the island of Sihiel, near the first cataract of the Nile, which actually links Imhotep to the key biblical element of the Joseph story – telling of Pharaoh Djoser in the 18th year of his reign. The inscription states “seven meagre years and seven rich years”. Commenting on the inscription, Moeller writes, “Pharaoh Djoser asks Imhotep to help him with the coming seven years of famine. All the biblical components of the story are there, and there is a similar inscription on the island of Philae in the Nile.” (This is exactly as in the Bible with Joseph, except for listing the “meagre” years before the years of plenty. Note: The famine years were, of course, the event of significance, saving everyone from starvation and bringing in much wealth to Egypt – it is noted that the manuscript was written a thousand years after the occurrences.) A carving in Sakkara shows starving people (ribs prominently outlined), also shows sacks of grain being carried up steps (as in the “silo” vaults at Sakkara), also food being distributed. In summary, Moeller says, “It should be noted that there is no other period of famine of seven plus seven years in the history of Egypt – except for the one for which Imhotep was responsible.” In Egyptian records, only one person is described as having the administrative authority to organize Egypt’s survival during the long famine – Imhotep. The parallel to biblical Joseph is precise and compelling. Moeller cites the large number of similarities in the lives, the accomplishments, responsibilities and characteristics of Imhotep of Egypt and Joseph of the Bible. Noting the dove-tailing of their individual stories from separate Egyptian and biblical accounts, Moeller’s conclusion is that the two – most probably – were the same person, the two stories told from different viewpoints. He includes 27 comparisons of Imhotep and Joseph, many are listed below.

(Imhotep – Egyptian records); {Joseph – Bible}:

(Imhotep is appointed Administrator by Pharaoh Djoser during the periods of seven years famine and seven years of bountiful harvests); {Joseph is appointed Administrator to Pharaoh for the seven years of plenty then of famine};
(Minister to the King of Lower Egypt); {Pharaoh .. made him ruler over all the land of Egypt};
(Administrator of the GreatPalace); {Thou shalt be over my house};
(Not of royal blood; attained position by ability); {From another nation and religion, not of royal blood, attained position by ability};
(Not appointed by Pharaoh Djoser until he had reigned for some time); {Appointed well after Pharaoh ruled Egypt};
(Given the status of “son” to Pharaoh); {Granted the status of “son” to Pharaoh};

The Roman-Jewish historian, Josephus, quotes the writings of Manetho, Egyptian historian: “During [the] reign of .. Pharaoh Djoser, 3rd Egyptian dynasty, lived Imhotep .. [with a] reputation among Egyptians like the Greek God of medicine – [Manetho even wondered] whether Imhotep could have been an actual person .. [because he had] “so many outstanding qualities and talents .. a very special person [who] appears in the history of Egypt.” On the foundations of the Step Pyramid in Sakkara was carved the name of Pharaoh Djoser and “.. Imhotep, Chancellor of the King of Lower Egypt, Chief under the King, Administrator of the Great Palace, Hereditary Lord, High Priest of Heliopolis, Imhotep the Builder..”.

The Bible tells of Pharaoh honoring Joseph with much the same offices as given to Imhotep “It is probable that Joseph was the only person to gain Pharaoh’s confidence to this degree. Joseph received every authority apart from Pharaoh himself .. [though] not of royal blood and .. [of] another nationality.” (As detailed above, the same also applies to Imhotep.) In both cases there is much reference to the pharaohic announcements – “second only to Pharaoh”; the Bible also tells of Joseph being given Pharaoh’s signet ring (with the royal seal), an outstanding act and undoubtedly, a national event.

A startling point is Moeller’s statement about what Joseph/Imhotep achieved for Egypt, “It was during the reign of Djoser that Egypt became a great power .. great riches were accumulated during the seven years of famine .. when grain was sold to all the countries around Egypt. The complex of buildings at Sakkara is remarkably unique, nothing like it has been seen anywhere .. built of white limestone from neighboring hills.” Describing the immense storage vaults at Sakkara, Moeller writes, “40,000 cubic metres storage .. remnants of grain have been found at the bottom.” Egypt built a vast nation-wide system of granary-storehouses as at Sakkara, evidence of a nationwide major program to store an enormous amount of grain for an anticipated famine.

While the Bible ‘s story of Joseph focuses on the greater story of the Hebrew people: his father Patriarch Jacob, the brothers, the beginning of the Hebrew sojourn in Egypt, leading to their slavery, then Moses and Aaron and the miracles of the plagues and the Exodus, it is the Egyptian artifacts that tell the details of how remarkable a man was Imhotep/Joseph. Not only an exceptional administrator who built the storage cities and maintained the discipline of storing rather than dissipating the excess grain during the seven years of bounty, Imhotep was also memorialized in Egyptian history for his medical abilities – his sarcophagus was decorated with the Ibis, Egyptian symbol of medicine, and in US medical schools today there is the Imhotep Medical Society.

Final “Clincher” – that Egyptian Imhotep was the Biblical Joseph.

Extremely noteworthy regarding Imhotep-Joseph is that the mummified bodies of neither have ever been found. The known facts regarding the burials of Imhotep and Joseph also strongly support the thesis that they were the same person:

- Both died at age 108.

- Imhotep’s coffin in Sakkara – with innumeral Ibis birds mummified in the adjoining galleries (Imhotep was called “Ibis” because of his reputation for healing – a large number of Ibis birds were sacrificed to him at his funeral in Sakkara); many clay vessels bearing the seal of Pharaoh Djoser were near the coffin; and the coffin is oriented to the North, not East, and is empty.

- Joseph would have been buried at Sakkara, his coffin orientated to the North – indicating he did not believe in the gods of the Egyptians (who were buried facing East, the rising sun); the coffin would also be empty as Joseph’s bones would have been taken by Moses with the Hebrews during the Exodus.
